Based Ben and Freestyle Finrod's squad had gone full undercover, rocking stolen Orc gear and trying to blend into the northern badlands like it was just another Tuesday quest. They even took out a few actual Orcs to sell the bit. But up in his creepy watchtower on Werewolf Island, Sigmauron wasn't buying the cosplay. Something about the way they moved screamed "not from around here," and before long the whole crew got dragged in for questioning. (Why do Orcs even have gear that fits Elves that well anyway?)
Sigmauron and Freestyle Finrod went straight into a rap battle of songs—each trying to out-magic the other with verses that could rewrite reality. Freestyle Finrod held his own at first, but Sigmauron dropped the ultimate diss track, throwing the Kinslaying at Swan Harbor in his face. The trauma hit like a truck. Freestyle Finrod's concentration shattered, the disguises melted away, and there they all were: a bunch of very obvious Elves in a very bad neighborhood. Sigmauron demanded names, ranks, and what the hell they were actually doing, but nobody cracked. Not one of them sold out the quest for the Shiny Rock. So he did what any reasonable dark lord would do: tossed the entire party into a lightless pit and let the werewolves pick them off one by one in the dark.
- Backup OrvilleBro the eyes just glowed again. Someone got dragged off.💀
- Freestyle FinrodStay strong. We do not break for McEvilface's mutts.🙏
- Based BenIt's getting closer… I can hear the claws. Hey Freestyle Finrod why's your hair always perfect even in a murder pit tho😂
- Freestyle FinrodNone of you say a word about the ring or the quest. That's an order.
While the pit slowly turned into a horror-movie elimination chamber, things were going sideways back in Doorlatch Forest. Lucy Slay had one of those sudden "my boyfriend is in mortal danger" psychic moments thanks to her mom Melanie Magic, who filled in the rest of the tragic details. Lucy Slay immediately decided she wasn't waiting around for rescue; she was going to handle it herself. She tried to recruit Simp Darren for backup because he was supposed to be her ride-or-die minstrel bestie, but Simp Darren pulled the same move he always did and snitched to Theo Gatekeep again. Theo Gatekeep, in classic overprotective dad mode, had a fancy treehouse prison built way up in the branches and locked her in there to keep her from running off after a mortal.
Lucy Slay, however, was not about to sit in timeout. She used her enchantments to grow her hair ridiculously long, wove it into both a sleep-spell cloak and a rope, and rappelled down like the world's most magical influencer. She slipped out of Doorlatch Forest and hit the road north, because that's what you do when your situationship is stuck in a werewolf dungeon.
Around the same time Cocky Cal and Sneaky Curtis were out on a wolf-hunting trip with Cocky Cal's legendary dog Goodest Boy tagging along. Goodest Boy had this whole prophecy hanging over him that he'd only die after fighting the biggest wolf ever, so he was basically unkillable until that day. When the trio ran into the newly escaped Lucy Slay, Goodest Boy immediately decided she was the best thing since kibble and brought her straight to his masters. Cocky Cal took one look at her and decided she was wife material—specifically, wife material that would let him rule both Nacho Throne and Doorlatch Forest through marriage. He conveniently forgot to mention that he already knew about Based Ben's Shiny Rock quest and how it would clear the way for him.
Instead of actually helping, the brothers betrayed her, locked her up again, and stole the magic cloak. Cocky Cal fired off a message to Theo Gatekeep saying he planned to marry Lucy Slay and become the ultimate power couple of the Nerdor. Classic Finn-family family values.
- Cocky CalShe's literally perfect and her dad rules half the continent. We marry her, we run Nacho Throne AND Doorlatch Forest. Easy win.
- Sneaky CurtisYou're not even going to mention the mortal she's in love with? Or the Shiny Rock quest that would make us all kings?
- Cocky CalDetails. She doesn't need to know yet. Just keep her quiet until the wedding.
- Sneaky CurtisThis is going to blow up in our faces so hard.
But Goodest Boy had caught feelings too. The giant Valinorean hound straight-up betrayed his own master because Lucy Slay was just that persuasive. He stole the cloak back, helped her break out of Nacho Throne, and let her ride him like a majestic wolf-Uber all the way north to McEvilface's territory. By the time they reached Werewolf Island only Based Ben and Freestyle Finrod were left alive in the pit. Sigmauron had figured out that Freestyle Finrod was the big boss among them and was saving him for last, hoping to crack the secret of their whole suicidal quest.
When a werewolf finally lunged for Based Ben, Freestyle Finrod went full beast mode. He snapped his own chains, fought the creature with nothing but hands and teeth, and killed it. The effort cost him everything. Mortally wounded, Freestyle Finrod died in that stinking pit to save his friend Based Ben. It was the kind of sacrifice that leaves a silence no one wants to fill.
In the exact same moment Lucy Slay arrived at the island and began singing a song of such raw power that the stones themselves answered. Based Ben, from the bottom of the pit, sang back. Sigmauron heard the duet and decided this new arrival was priority one. He sent wave after wave of wolves; Goodest Boy tore through all of them. Even OG Werewolf, Sigmauron's prized werewolf lieutenant, died at his master's feet after reporting that the Hound of Valinor had shown up.
Sigmauron, realizing the prophecy was now in play, shape-shifted into the biggest, nastiest wolf form he could manage and went straight at Goodest Boy. The battle that followed was brutal. Lucy Slay stepped in at the critical moment, wrapped Sigmauron in her cloak of sleep and enchantment, and took mastery of the entire island. The tower cracked open. Prisoners poured out. But when Based Ben still didn't appear, Lucy Slay went down into the dark herself and found him cradling Freestyle Finrod's body. Their reunion was quiet, heavy with grief, and real.
