This chapter is called "The Shiny Rock Ruins Another Kingdom" and yeah, we're still not done with the Shiny Rock's body count. After everything that happened with Tragic Tim and Nina No-Memory, McEvilface decides to be extra and lets Hugh Chair out of jail after twenty-eight years. The guy looks like he's been through every war crime possible, and his own people are like "hard pass" on hanging out with him. So Hugh Chair's bitter, wandering around, and he tries to find his way back to Secret Elf HOA to warn Gordon HOA. But the place is basically on super-secret lockdown.
Eagle Boss Tony the eagle king spots him creeping around the mountains and reports back. Gordon HOA feels a little bad remembering how much of a legend Hugh Chair used to be, so he tells the eagles to go grab him. Too late though—Hugh Chair's already gone. But here's where it gets worse: in his frustration he yelled Gordon HOA's name out loud. McEvilface's spies heard it, figured out the general area, and boom, Secret Elf HOA's location is no longer 100% classified. Hugh Chair passes out, has a nightmare vision of his wife Stone-Cold Morgan, wakes up, and goes looking for her at the stone that marks where their kids died.
He finds her there—an old, broken woman kneeling at the grave of Tragic Tim and Nina No-Memory. She dies that same night in his arms. Hugh Chair buries her, and now he's just pure rage mode. He wants revenge on literally everyone, especially McEvilface. So he heads south to the ruins of Nacho Throne, a place everyone's been avoiding because Gaslight Gary used to live there. The only one still squatting in the wreckage is Petty Pete the Petty Dwarf, who's been hoarding the dragon's treasure like it's his side hustle.
Hugh Chair knows Petty Pete betrayed his son Tragic Tim. Petty Pete tries to bribe him with anything in the hoard to spare his life. Doesn't work. Hugh Chair kills him, chills in the empty halls for a bit, and when he leaves he only takes one thing: the Drip Necklace, that sick necklace the Dwarves made for Freestyle Finrod back in the day. It's basically the one piece of treasure Freestyle Finrod loved more than anything. Hugh Chair decides to take it straight to Theo Gatekeep in Doorlatch Forest as a savage receipt for "thanks for watching my family, I guess."
When Hugh Chair rolls up in Doorlatch Forest they welcome him, but he chucks the Drip Necklace at Theo Gatekeep's feet like it's a participation trophy and basically says "thanks for letting my wife and kids get wrecked." Theo Gatekeep's queen Melanie Magic, who sees through McEvilface's lies like they're cheap Snapchat filters, calmly explains what actually went down. Hugh Chair realizes he got played, picks the necklace back up, hands it over properly as one grieving dad to another, then just… walks out of Doorlatch Forest and throws himself into the western sea. The tragedy here doesn't need jokes. It lands like a brick.
Theo Gatekeep, now holding the Drip Necklace again, can't stop staring at it. He's already obsessed with the Shiny Rock Based Ben brought him. He gets the idea to have the Dwarves remake the necklace so it can hold the shiny rock. Some Dwarves from Hammer Town are still around doing metalwork gigs in Cave Mansion, so he shows them the Shiny Rock. They look at it and immediately start calculating how much it would go for on the black market, but they agree to the job anyway.
When the necklace is finished and glowing with the Shiny Rock, Theo Gatekeep reaches for it. The Dwarves suddenly get possessive and say "actually this was made by our dads for Freestyle Finrod and you can't have it back." Theo Gatekeep sees the greed in their eyes and tells them to get out of his kingdom. That's when they snap. They kill Theo Gatekeep right there in his own throne room, grab the Drip Necklace with the Shiny Rock still in it, and try to bounce. The Elves of Doorlatch Forest chase them down; most of the Dwarves die, but two make it back to Hammer Town screaming that the Elven-king murdered their relatives. Their kin in Big Town are like "bro maybe chill," but the Hammer Town Dwarves are already loading up for war. They march on Doorlatch Forest.
Melanie Magic sits beside Theo Gatekeep's body in total grief. She knows his death means the end of the magical barrier she's been holding around the whole kingdom. She's one of the Choir Kids, he was Varsity Elves; the parting is permanent. She quietly tells Mabs Heavyhand to guard the Shiny Rock and send word to Based Ben and Lucy Slay, then she leaves for Valinor and the Gardens of Dreamy Danny. The second she's gone, Doorlatch Forest is just another forest with no plot armor. When the Dwarves attack, the defense is disorganized. Mabs Heavyhand dies in front of the treasury doors. The Drip Necklace and Shiny Rock are taken, Cave Mansion is looted and wrecked, and a ton of Elves and Dwarves die in the halls. The kingdom is ruined.

- Chill CelebWord just reached us from the Green Elves. Cave Mansion has fallen. Theo Gatekeep is dead. The Dwarves of Hammer Town took the Nauglamir and the Shiny Rock. Mabs Heavyhand fell defending the treasury.
- Chill CelebMelanie Magic has withdrawn. The Girdle is gone. Doorlatch Forest lies open.
- Based BenWe ride at once. Gather every Green Elf who will follow. I want blood for this.
- Lucy SlayI will come too. My father's halls… they destroyed everything.
Based Ben and Lucy Slay get the news. They still have their son Dio Drama, who's married to Queen Nim (a kinswoman of Chill Celeb), and they've got three kids: twin boys Elly Lost and Rin Lost plus daughter Ellie Birdwife. Based Ben gathers a force of Green Elves from Seven Rivers, catches the retreating Dwarves, and personally kills the Lord of Hammer Town. He takes the Drip Necklace back and gives it to Lucy Slay. It doesn't really fix her grief. As Theo Gatekeep's heir, Dio Drama moves his family into Doorlatch Forest and tries to rebuild the kingdom to its old glory.
One autumn night a messenger from the Green Elves shows up carrying nothing but a small coffer. Inside is the Drip Necklace. Dio Drama understands immediately that Based Ben and Lucy Slay have died and passed beyond the world into the fate of Men. The tragedy settles heavy here; no meme, no punchline, just the quiet weight of another generation gone.
Word that the Shiny Rock is now sitting in Doorlatch Forest under Dio Drama's watch spreads quick. The sons of Finn—still chained to their stupid unbreakable oath—send messages demanding it back. Dio Drama doesn't answer. He's not giving up the jewel that cost his grandparents everything. So the oath fires up again like a group project nobody is allowed to quit. The Feanorians attack Doorlatch Forest in what history calls the Second Kinslaying.
Both sides bleed bad. Dio Drama and Queen Nim are killed. Cocky Cal, Cranky Carl, and Sneaky Curtis die in the fighting too. But the Shiny Rock itself escapes with Dio Drama and Queen Nim's young daughter Ellie Birdwife, who makes it to the mouths of Riverside. Doorlatch Forest is broken for good. The shiny rock has now ruined yet another kingdom, and the body count keeps climbing. The cycle is nowhere near finished.
